Chase first saw Madison in the 5th grade. In middle school their lockers were right next to one another and their friendship grew. This journey didn't always keep them right next to one another, but luckily their parents stayed very good friends. And when the timing was just right these two reconnected and their friendship turned into love. Their wedding day was full to brim of people who love them and the day was spent dancing and laughing (and watching the weather radar praying that the incoming storm wouldn't hit until after the ceremony - which it didn't, but when the rains came they definitely made their impression on the day and created some extra interesting stories). Enjoy!
Read MoreAs Shelly reached the alter to marry her groom, Jim, the officiant didn't instantly ask everyone to sit and for her father to give her away. Instead he reminded everyone what a truly once in a lifetime moment this was. Although he said there will be photographs to remind them all of this day (as he lovingly pointed me out kneeling in the front row) nothing will ever compare to this moment. But the thing he said next is the one that really stuck with me. He asked anyone who had come to just watch to please leave the room and wait for us in the hallway. Shelly and Jim's wise friend told everyone that their invitation to the wedding meant an invitation into their marriage and that if they continued to sit in the room to watch them become man and wife they would forever be called upon to offer support and encourage to Shelly and Jim throughout both the good times and the rough times that their life together would bring. It was such a simple but sweet reminder that while we plan for months for the wedding, and devote so much time to the planning of a wedding, at the end of the day the marriage is the most important part of all of it. And to keep that marriage strong it will require just as much work and devotion as the wedding day did. Reminders like these are one of the biggest reasons why after 10 years and countless ceremonies, I absolutely love the honor of photographing weddings. It fills my soul and makes me want to go home and cherish my love and my marriage even more. Enjoy!

Read MoreWe often see picture perfect wedding days and think how happy that couple must be. I feel that often the journey to get to that "big day" can be overlooked in the excitement over it finally happening. Brittany and Dewayne skipped most of the traditional wedding day stuff. Brittany knew she wanted her father to walk her down the aisle. So he did. She knew she wanted a special memorial candle lit at the ceremony. So it was. And her day was perfect. You might call Brittany and Dewayne's Liberty Memorial wedding ceremony an elopement. But after hearing Brittany tell me the story of how they got to that day, I am in forever awe of the commitment and devotion that these two have for each other and for their children. Their wedding day was perfect for them and their marriage will be one for the books. Enjoy!
Read MoreChris and Rorik met through mutual friends. They knew each other for years and hung out often but life kept moving along. And then one day something clicked. That little click changed their friendship into a love that runs deep. They have a quiet way of being together but their sweetness and charm emanate wholly. I was thrilled to be asked to photograph their Kansas City wedding especially after getting to see their moves on the dance floor at Chris' brothers wedding.
