About Kansas City Wedding PHOTOGRAPHER
DEANNA JOHNSON
i’m deanna,
THE OWNER & PHOTOGRAPHER
I marry your story, ideas, and vision with experience, passion, and a dash of fun to ensure you receive photographs you adore and have an amazing experience in the process.
MY BIGGEST GOAL IS TO CAPTURE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE WHERE YOU ARE AND THE EMOTIONS WEAVED INTO YOUR RELATIONSHIP.
I’M THE PHOTOGRAPHER But I’m Also…
…the cheerleader, usher, keeper of the timeline, and stealth ninja anticipating what’s coming next. After 15 years and more than 250 weddings, I’ve learned a trick or two about how to navigate the unique challenges of a wedding day.
I’ve learned that planning for the inevitable means getting to enjoy the unexpected. I’ve learned when to take center stage and be the conductor to ensure that your must-have shots are checked off that list. But, I’ve also learned when to be still and wait for the relationships surrounding you to show their beautiful touches of joy that long to be captured.
For lifestyle portraits or event photography, I bring those same skills to your shoot and I’m also mindful of your unique family rhythm or event purpose. I know how to win the heart (and smiles) of a tired toddler or get a too-cool-for-school tween caught up in the moment, laughing along with the family.
I’m a family gal with three boys and a husband (who I knew I would marry 3 weeks after I’d met). In college, he walked up to me at a house party and confidently introduced himself, “Hi! I’m Kendall,” he beamed. The following Monday, I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled and let’s just say I rocked some serious chipmunk cheeks.
A couple of days later he asked me to come over and watch a movie. I warned him of the current state of my cheeks, but he insisted. When I arrived, he asked if he could “see my sockets.” It must have been the best/worst pick-up line ever because three weeks later we decided to get married. And that marriage birthed three boys who turn my heart to wax when they’re sleeping and my house to a war zone when they’re awake. But, it’s the extremes and unpredictability that makes me tick. The last 16 years together have been a whirlwind of cross country adventures, exploring Kansas City, and more love than I could have ever dreamt of.
