Vinita & Amit {Traditional Indian Wedding at Westin Hotel Kansas City}

Vinita and Amit created a lot of firsts for me.  Their wedding was my first traditional Indian wedding.  It was the first three day celebration I had ever shot.  It was also my first seventeen hour wedding day.  While there were many parts of their celebrations, traditions, and ceremony that I didn't understand fully, there was so much that touched my heart.  Their deep love of family.  Their beliefs in traditions that bring good luck to the whole life of a marriage.  That a marriage is not just between the bride and the groom, but that it extends fully through both sides of the family.  It is the marriage of the couple and of the families and a deep commitment from both of those sides to honor and help this couple through their lives together.  Things I think are often universal truths but I love how the traditions of the indian culture bring them into the open and ensure that they are said as well as felt.

The whole experience was an absolute whirlwind and I was so grateful to work with an amazing couple, a wonderful family, and one of the best team of professionals in Kansas City.  An extra huge shout out to Mike Tsai for being my right hand photographer and Jenny Shipley for being a great assistant and back up camera.  Enjoy!
