Brandi & Joe {Elegant Backyard Wedding Photography in Kansas City}

I always advise my couple to decide early in their wedding planning what is most important to them about their about their wedding day.  Then when the day comes to focus on that even when other things go "wrong".  Brandi knew early on that she wanted to do her and Joe's first look away from the house and from everyone else.  But then the rain hit and wouldn't stop.  I tried to suggest other locations that would ensure she would be kept out of the rain.  But she persisted and the result was one of the most lovely and romantic first looks I have ever seen.  Brandi and Joe got to have their perfect moment under a gazebo, in the middle of a park, in the rain with no one around (but us).
From there the rain didn't stop but Brandi and Joe embraced it.  The ceremony was moved into the tent and the worst of the storm hit once everyone was safely inside.  The moment the ceremony was over Brandi rushed outside to find a double rainbow and a break in the storm that opened up for the most gorgeous sunset right at the time we needed to take pictures.  The rest of the evening was spent enjoying friends and family who had come to share in their wedding day.  And no one was bothered by the rain.  Enjoy!
From my bride, Brandi:
Favorite Moment of the Day: Our first look. It was raining and I saw Joe in the gazebo and all the worries about the day washed away. We knew we were going to embrace the rain, but i didn't know I would love it so much. There was something so romantic about him standing there with the autumn rain behind him.
Inspiration for the wedding: The vintage frames! It happened organically! We knew we wanted a autumn theme, but when we made the bar menu out of the vintage frames, it really set the tone for the wedding. We used a ton of frames and filled in the blanks as items presented themselves to us.
Advice to brides planning in the future: Embrace the unknown! I was worried about the rain for our outdoor wedding all year, and when the week was finally here, we were so excited to marry each other, the rain no longer mattered. As a matter of fact, we loved the rain! I will always love rainy autumn days because of the beautiful memories we made on October 14th.
Thank you to Denise Jambor for being my second photographer for the day and for playing in the rain with me!
